1. Provider, scope and price
AnkerTrace is provided by Paul Wolfmajer, Forstsiedlung 20, 8074 Raaba-Grambach, Austria; support@wolfmajer.com. These terms describe use of the Android anchor-watch app. The current version has no subscription, purchase requirement or paid watch features. Your mobile provider may charge for data. Advertisements and optional rewarded videos can fund development. App-store terms may additionally apply to distribution; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
2. Purpose and requirements
AnkerTrace assists in observing the phone’s GPS position relative to an anchor point you choose. It cannot establish or guarantee that an anchor grips the seabed. It is not a nautical chart, emergency service, certified safety device or replacement for appropriate navigation equipment and independent onboard checks.
The implemented watch requires Android 8 or later, working precise GPS, location/notification permissions, adequate battery and audible alarm settings. Online maps and ads require connectivity; the local GPS watch does not depend on map tiles. No functioning iOS watch is supplied by this version. Operating-system, device and map-provider limitations affect compatibility and performance.
3. Safe operation and alarms
Keep the phone securely on the boat. Before each watch, verify the actual anchor point, suitable radius and swinging room, fresh GPS accuracy, audible alarm volume, audio routing, notifications, charging and battery restrictions. Consider weather, tide, neighbouring vessels and local conditions independently. The app measures the phone’s position, not the physical anchor. Never assume that absence of an alarm proves safe anchoring.
Drift is confirmed using two consecutive sufficiently accurate positions outside the radius. Approximately 30 seconds without a good fix triggers a GPS alert; disabling GPS can trigger it immediately. An existing drift alarm takes priority. A low-battery warning appears at 15 percent or below. These detection rules do not guarantee warning time or detection of every dangerous event. Acknowledgement can silence an unresolved alarm for up to 60 seconds and does not resolve its cause.
GPS reception, reflections, delayed fixes, OS restrictions, device failures, DND/volume settings, headphones or Bluetooth routing can impair alerts. Force-stop, reboot or loss of power interrupts monitoring. Check the app and explicitly start a new watch after an interruption. Anchor position, radius and simulation mode are locked during a watch to prevent accidental changes.
4. Maps and simulation
OpenStreetMap and Esri World Imagery are for geographic orientation. Satellite imagery varies in age and resolution. Esri attribution: Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community. Esri terms: https://www.esri.com/en-us/legal/terms/web-site-service. It may omit depths, obstructions, navigation hazards or changing conditions and must not be used as a nautical chart. Attribution and third-party terms apply: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright and https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/tiles/. Tile availability and caching are not an offline-navigation guarantee. Position, anchor circle and track remain visible when map tiles fail to load.
Settings → GPS Simulator uses synthetic positions. Simulated watches are labelled and do not monitor your boat. End the simulation watch, switch simulation off and activate real GPS before real use. Verify the real anchor coordinates again.
5. Permission to use and third-party licences
You may install and use AnkerTrace for its intended purpose on compatible devices you are entitled to use. Rights in original app content remain with their holders. Open-source software and map data remain governed by their own licences; nothing here limits rights they grant or statutory rights concerning software interoperability or other mandatory exceptions. Do not use the app to gain unauthorised access to another person’s device or data.
6. Advertising, data and communications
Watching rewarded videos is optional and never required for monitoring, alerts, logging, simulation or export. Completing one rewarded video grants 30 minutes without banners on the same device after the SDK confirms completion. Declining or closing a video leaves core functions available; no safety function is a reward or purchase requirement. Ad presentation is suspended during active monitoring. Advertising choices are separate from acknowledging these terms and the safety information. Declining advertising consent does not remove core features. The Privacy Policy describes local records, map requests, advertising recipients and your controls; acknowledging these terms does not constitute blanket data-processing consent.
The local logbook has finite storage limits and is not a backup service. Export records you need and choose recipients carefully. Exporting or sending a support email is your explicit action. We do not automatically receive your logbook. Stop a watch before deleting records or removing app permissions.
7. Updates, ending use and consumer rights
You may stop using the app at any time. End monitoring before uninstalling; export any records you want to keep. Uninstalling or clearing storage removes app-private records but not copies you have shared elsewhere. There is no automatic renewal or cancellation charge in the current version.
Install available updates needed for compatibility and security. AnkerTrace can require a minimum version or temporarily prohibit new watches for safety, security or compatibility reasons. The last valid received restriction remains effective offline without a time-based expiry. A compatible installed version satisfies a minimum version; an emergency restriction is lifted only after receipt of a valid replacement policy. An offline device cannot receive a new remote restriction. A watch already running is not remotely terminated; alarms, acknowledgement and explicit stop controls remain available. Maintain an independent lookout and end the watch when safe. Legal information, support, export and deletion remain accessible during a restriction. This mechanism does not waive mandatory consumer rights or retrospectively obtain agreement or advertising consent. Statutory obligations to supply conforming digital services and necessary updates, including applicable Austrian VGG/KSchG rights, are not excluded by these terms. Where applicable law grants withdrawal, repair, replacement, price reduction, termination or other remedies, those rights remain. The fact that an app has no monetary price does not by itself remove applicable consumer protections. No waiver of withdrawal or other mandatory rights is obtained through the first-run acknowledgement.
8. Warranty and liability
No promise is made of perfect GPS accuracy, uninterrupted availability, detection of every drift or preservation of every stored record. These statements explain technical limitations; they are not a blanket disclaimer of statutory conformity requirements or legal liability. Statutory warranty and liability rules apply. Nothing excludes non-waivable liability, including applicable liability for intent, gross negligence or personal injury. No fixed damages cap or obligation to indemnify the provider is imposed by these terms.
9. Complaints, law and changes
Send support or contractual complaints to support@wolfmajer.com with the relevant app version and a description. Your right to seek legal remedies is unaffected. Austrian law applies without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that apply in their country of habitual residence. No exclusive forum is imposed on consumers.
New legal versions are published with an updated identifier. Older pinned versions remain accessible. Publication alone does not authorise retrospective changes to a contract, replace consent or override statutory rules on changes to digital services. Any changes requiring agreement or other legally prescribed notice must follow those requirements. Contact us if a provision or notice is unclear.
